Hubertus is a forest engineer by profession and managing director of the company SILVACONSULT AG. Since 1982 he holds a MSc in Forestry from the University of Freiburg i.B., Germany. His PhD from the same university had the topic "Application of geo-information systems in forestry". After leaving the university, Hubertus joined the State Forest Department Baden-Württemberg, Germany for three years. After that, he worked for two years as deputy of the State Forest Planning Department in Saarland, Germany. In 1992 Hubertus moved to Switzerland, where he worked in the private industries. In 1999, he founded SILVACONSULT AG in Winterthur, Switzerland. He has profound knowledge in remote sensing, GIS, information technology, forest inventories, forest ecology, and forest management. In recent years he has extended his expertise to carbon forestry and has been working as external GHG-Auditor for the certification company TÜV SÜD Munich. Hubertus coordinated several CO2-Projects in Europe, Asia, and the Americas. He ideally supplements WaKa's expertise in forest investments and certification through his experience in carbon forestry. In 2008 Hubertus was appointed President of the Board of WaKa - Forest Investment Services AG. Since 2015 Hubertus holds the post of managing director of FSC Switzerland.
