Jörn Ackermann

Jörn is holding a M.Sc. in Wood Science and Technology from the University of Hamburg, Germany. From 2002 to 2004 he joined a working group for the development of management concepts for degraded tropical forests and forest plantations in Malaysia, Brazil, and Ghana, located at the Federal Research Institute of Forestry and Forest Products in Germany. From 2004 – 2008 he was stationed in Ghana / West Africa as head of the forest plantation development department of a recognised Ghanaian wood processing company. Organized as Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) approach, he cooperated closely with German Development Organizations (CIM, GTZ), Ghanaian timber industry and governmental forestry institutions. His work encompassed the elaboration of management- and business plans for sustainable forest plantation development on small scale and large scale levels as well as the development and successful implementation of bufferzone management concepts aiming at forest fire prevention. All activities aimed at forest certification according to FSC standards. In 2009, Jörn moved back to Germany and became auditor in the FSC Chain of Custody (COC) System. He is now cooperating with WaKa as Senior Consultant in the fields of legality system, forest management and business plan development. Jörn is stationed in Berlin, Germany.
